Mentoring

There is a potentially critical issue in the industry as a result of the downsizing and retirement of older, experienced geoscientist  - a lack of "grey-hair"  experience in Exploration Teams.  At the same time, many NOCs are building their exploration staff with less experienced geoscientists.  One way to address these issues is to bring in mentors to work with exploration teams in order to develop a better understanding of the industry.  Blake Geological Services LLC
can provide the expertise to help in the mentoring process.

Experience
  • Mentor at both Unocal and Murphy Oil, working with summer Interns and newly hired geoscientists

  • Mentor for foreign geoscientists associated with international offices and geoscientists from participating NOCs

Approach
  • Working with teams and promoting the basics of play fairways, identification of the petroleum system elements, GIS practices  and the application of specialized geological and geophysical data into regional and prospect level projects

  • Overview of the technical evaluation process applied to projects from regional to more prospect level, while always being aware of whether or not it will be a profitable to share holders or country stake holders

  • To emphasize geological applications that build on important skill sets in:  basin history,  depositional systems, structural geology and geochemistry;  strong skill sets in these geologic disciplines help the early-career geoscientist to be a successful member of exploration teams
